The Therapeutic Energy Healing chakra model points to a pre-existing system of energy consciousness development, one that utilizes physical, emotional, and psycho-spiritual energies blending together, to produce an individuated and embodied soul, and one that is deeply connected to other souls in their various states. The chakra system integrates the physical, emotional, and psycho-spiritual aspects of each human being.
Even if the chakras are hard-wired into our energy system, it still means they have to be either developed fully (by training) or become activated (awakened). Chakra training comes from engaging life fully, and embracing “mistakes” made only as opportunities, and not as a reflection of our intrinsic self-worth. The activation of chakras happens when we stumble into a stage-transition: moving from one level of development to a higher one, but also raising the level of the lower level at the same time. The end result is individuation, ideally one that nonetheless keeps us in relationship with others.
There are two doorways to developing our energy consciousness: a) individual chakra development, and b) moving from our current level of development into the next stage of our growth. These doorways require two sets of energy healing skills.
The first step is to see each chakra as a necessary part of our energy consciousness structure, and to study how each chakra works well, or how it has become dysfunctional. The second step is to begin seeing physical or emotional crises as indicators of stage-transitions, not as a problem to be solved. If we “solve” our problems, without changing at some level of our consciousness, we don’t transition to a more integrated, or individuated, self. We must consciously choose initiation (as in, allowing ourselves to be changed by a challenge) over maintaining the existing status quo of our inner – or outer – world.

When applying healing skills to working with a client, we can choose either one of these doorways: either a chakra developmental level (i.e. only focus on Chakra Two issues) and work with their relational cords to others, or we can assist the client as seeing any crisis as an indicator of an approaching initiation for them. The skills needed with facing a crisis (i.e. symptoms of a stage transition) do require that the healer themselves has successfully passed through several transitions of their own: where their solid sense of self identity has been transformed radically by some outer event, or relationship.
The point of this short post is to point out the two different applications of Therapeutic Energy Healing: either single chakra focus, or multi-chakra focus. Both are important, and are related to each other, but exploring a multi-chakra focus (helping a client transition through a crisis) will require the healer-therapist to have first walked the path of initiation for themselves. In the end, the depth of our healing work with others relies on our own dedication to inner growth. We are asked to not only guide a client through a stage transition, through an initiation, but to have had our own experience in passing through a version of that same transition.
